How is it possible to successfully produce belts and accessories in Germany today?
The management of Bazlen got the answer to this question for four generations. The advantages of Germany as a business location were recognized early on.

The voluntary commitment to produce in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner demonstrates the high degree of responsibility that the company assumes. It invests in the environment in order to conserve resources, avoid emissions and at the same time strengthen the economic efficiency of the site. This commitment is an important step towards strengthening and securing the future of the family business and that of its employees. The traditional company also demands this awareness from its suppliers. Their leather, clasps and all other materials are only processed if ecological and social standards are met and certified accordingly.
Sustainability
We, the company Bazlen, develop the belts collection together with Mustang. Manufacturing happens for the most part at our location in Metzingen, Germany. For many years our actions are oriented towards the three dimensions of sustainability: ecology, social and economy. Close collaboration with long-term partners and inhouse production enable us to ensure consistent improvements of sustainability.
Ecology
Due to short transport distances from manufacturing to POS we keep our CO2 Footprint low. Furthermore we have solar panels being installed on our roof since 2008. We make exclusive use of environmentally friendly raw materials, procured by sustainable certified suppliers. Thus in this way we guarantee end products free of pollutants according respectively certificates. Thanks to complete recycling of all residual products, we save resources.
Social
We attach importance to highest standards in social responsibility. Because of our own production in Germany and certified suppliers we ensure fair wages and good working conditions along the value chain, whereon we are very proud of.

Philipp Bazlen GmbH is committed to supporting responsible leather manufacturing across the globe and that is why we are proud members of Leather Working Group.

Carbon Footprint
Philipp Bazlen GmbH has joined the SBTi and is committed to reducing the company's absolute emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 42% by 2030. The base year for this target is 2022.
In order to create a sound basis for achieving the target, the corporate carbon footprint (CCF) was calculated in accordance with the GHG Protocol. The emissions from 2022 amount to 2,210.21 tonnes of CO2e. At 2,094.74 t CO2e, 94.78% of emissions are generated in Scope 3. Scope 1 and Scope 2 result in 116.48 t CO2e, resulting in a reduction of 67.55 t CO2e by 2030 through the science-based target.
